There are two test methods for extract content specified in the Pharmacopoeia: cold soaking method and hot soaking method. Different Chinese medicinal materials choose appropriate methods according to their own properties. After soaking the Chinese medicinal materials, take 20 or 25ml of soaking liquid, put it in a constant weight evaporating dish, and evaporate it in a water bath, then dry it at 105°C for 3 hours, then cool it in a desiccator for 30 minutes, and quickly and accurately weigh it. Unless otherwise specified, the content (%) of the water-soluble extract in the test product is calculated based on the dry product.
This experimental process is similar to the detection of non-volatile matter in the extract of pharmaceutical packaging materials, and constant weight is included in the experimental requirements, namely: the test solution must be evaporated in a water bath, dried and cooled, and then weighed; after another drying process Weighing, the difference in weighing mass is less than 0.3mg. When the experimenter manually operates it, it is extremely susceptible to the influence of environmental humidity, and it is difficult to achieve the constant weight requirement. Not only is it a serious waste of human resources, but it is also difficult to control the accuracy of the experiment; in addition, the medicine is three-point poison, and the experimenter's long-term exposure to the steam of the traditional Chinese medicine soaking liquid will inevitably affect the body.
