Overview

The LabStone STR Series is a versatile universal tensile tester designed to evaluate the mechanical properties of plastics, films, laminates, rubber, fabrics, and pharmaceutical packaging. It performs a comprehensive range of tests including tensile strength, peel strength, tear resistance, heat seal strength, puncture resistance, and compression.

With optional accessories, the STR Series extends to specialized applications such as bottle cap opening torque, ampoule break force, and needle penetration testing, making it an indispensable tool for R&D and quality control laboratories.

Working Principle

The instrument utilizes a precision ball screw drive system controlled by an embedded microprocessor. A specimen is clamped between a stationary upper grip and a movable lower crosshead. The crosshead moves at a controlled speed, applying tensile or compressive force. A high-accuracy load cell measures the force exerted, while an optical encoder tracks the displacement. The system plots a real-time force-displacement (or stress-strain) curve until specimen failure, automatically calculating key parameters such as Max Force, Elongation, and Energy Absorption.
